We have long wondered what level of authority Helmut Marko holds in Red Bull's F1 team. Often described as Dietrich Mateschitz's advisor, right-hand man, or consultant, Marko seemingly has very close ties with the owner of the racing team.

This weekend, The Independent's F1 journalist, David Tremayne shed more light on the situation.

I'm director of Red Bull Racing together with Christian [Horner] and [Dietrich] Mateschitz. Everything from the team comes to me and I filter it and if necessary bring it to the boss, so I make the final decisions.
