I write this blog on 10 October, 2011. A day of importance in Tundraland as it's Thanksgiving Day, which makes it one of our few statutory holidays.

It is held on the second Monday of October, and its purpose is to give thanks at the close of the harvest season - the centerpiece of the celebration being a large dinner with the main course being a Turkey.

Due to their longer planting season (read warmer temperatures), the United States have their's a month later, sometime in November.

Talking turkey

I have mentioned turkey as a food. Of course, there are other meanings of the word 'turkey', one of which is more related to Formula 1 than the country they race in. That being 'a failure - usually with regards to either theatrical productions or movies'.

Thus I suspect that our hosts at Sidepodcast have had their fill of turkeys already and may not stomach my offer...

The meaning of 'turkey' as 'a failure' has also broadened as slang to include other aspects of life. Thus, I ask you who was (or were) your Turkeys of the 2011 F1 season?

Maybe we could invite the winners to the house of an American fan on November 24th, 2011. Whether the winner is at the head of the table or on the table, I leave to our American Host or Hostess.

All ghoulishness aside, who / what was / were the Turkey(s) of 2011?
