The first session of the Turkish Grand Prix was a damp one, with drivers getting their first proper taste of Pirelli's wet tyres. For some, it worked well, and Fernando Alonso set the fastest time of the morning. Mercedes were also on good form, with Rosberg second and Schumacher third. Red Bull were not having such a good day, with Webber only managing an 11th place spot. Vettel waited for the optimum time to leave the garage, but the lack of laps left him vulnerable to the conditions and within minutes he had smashed into the wall.
