The most experienced British driver on the field, David Coulthard, has had a bit of a swipe at new boy Lewis Hamilton, although not directly insulting him.

Tabloid paper News Of The World has quoted Coulthard as saying: "Alonso may be new to McLaren but he is a double world champion. The first person you are compared to is your teammate and if Lewis struggles alongside Alonso it could destroy his confidence."

So, really, Coulthard is looking out for the newbie, saying that he believes a few years of testing could arm Hamilton with all the experience he needs to get a real headstart in F1.

Lewis hasn't risen to the bait.

In some ways, he could be right, but at the end of the day I've dne all I need to do coming up to F1. The team know I am young and it will take some time for me to get up to speed and learn.
