Spanish Wednesday: 1st December 2010 - Some F1 updates, and more Spanish motorsport vocabulary

Hola y buenos dias! Que tal hoy? Bien? Welcome y bienvenido to the second edition of my Spanish Wednesday. Glad you are here. Feeling good? Looking good? Estupendo!

F1 in Spain

To be honest, there isn’t that much in the way of F1 news, as all the teams have gone into a winter sleep, but I managed to find something for you.

Fernando Alonso will drive with his lucky number 5 in 2011. He won his first title with this number and I hope it really will bring him luck in the next season.

Meanwhile, Jaime Alguersuari did some DJing for Shakira. Whilst Esteban Gutiérrez got to work.

Other Spanish news

Monday was El Clasico Day as Barcelona hosted Real Madrid in their Camp Nou and genuinely squashed them - 5:0. I really wouldn’t like to be near Jose right now.

Yesterday in Madrid, some of the best Spanish sportsmen received the Premios AS del Deporte 2010 - an award sponsored by the sport's magazine AS for the best achievement in sport in year 2010.

Rafa Nadal has been awarded with the Premio AS for his outstanding achievements in tennis. He received the most votes. Bravo Rafa! Here’s an interview with him with some emotional responses.

The Spanish national football team have received the award for winning the World Cup in South Africa. Jorge Lorenzo has been awarded, too. Hmm, it could have been Dani Pedrosa or Fernando Alonso perhaps. Diego Forlan was there, too! He received a special tribute.

Diego's friend and captain, Diego Lugano, launched a new video. This will become the new opener for his official site. I like it!

So, it’s time for the next short Spanish lesson.

To finish up I’d like to thank Mr C and Christine for mentioning this humble column in the latest F1 Debrief. Didn’t see that one coming and loved it! My personal moment of the year!

That will be all for today. I hope you enjoyed it! Cheers and see you next week! Gracias y hasta la proxima semana!
