Sebastian Vettel overhauled his teammate's pole position almost instantly off the line, and kept Ferrari and McLaren behind him to take victory in Barcelona. Pérez picked up his first points, whilst Heidfeld fought through the field to eighth, after starting right at the back of the grid. Meanwhile, Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button joined Vettel on the podium.
