Red Bull dominated throughout qualifying, leading every single session. Michael Schumacher finished ahead of Nico Rosberg when it counted, in 6th, just behind Jenson Button. The Virgin drivers qualified 20th and 21st but will take five place penalties for not reporting gear ratios.
