Silverstone set to confirm British GP - The race looks set to return to its rightful home in 2010

The BRDC, owners of the Silverstone circuit, are set to hold a press conference today, revealing the future of the British GP. However, Reuters are already reporting that two British newspapers have the deal as done completely - although the terms of the deal differ according to each source.

Apparently, Bernie was quoted as saying:

It has been a long and tiring nonsense...

- Bernie Ecclestone

I couldn't agree more. However, it should all draw to a close today, and we will update the post as the press conference takes place and more news emerges.

Update: The BRDC have confirmed a 17 year deal to host the British Grand Prix on Silverstone. Damon Hill said:

It is not easy to enter into a contract of this magnitude and you have to take on a lot of responsibility, but the BRDC wanted this relationship to continue. Everyone was well aware that the British GP is not just a sporting event, but it is dynamo of the industry in this country. Losing it would have been damaging and perhaps there would have been no coming back.

On a personal note, I would like to thank the team at Silverstone, our board of the BRDC, the membership of the BRDC and those in the industry who have been unwavering in their support.
