Ron Howard's epic F1 movie Rush, a cinematic re-creation of James Hunt and Niki Lauda's dramatic 1976 title fight is now available to pre-order from iTunes.

The two and bit hour long drama starring Chris Hemsworth, Daniel Brühl and Olivia Wilde will be released in both high definition and standard definition format. The digital download can be reserved anytime between now and its (as yet unconfirmed) release date.

In the UK the movie costs £13.99 for the HD version and the file weighs in at a cool 5.05 GB if you opt for the 1080p edition. It's not yet clear if any bonus features will be included in the download bundle. Additionally the film will almost certainly be available to rent from iTunes at roughly the same time.

Pre-order Rush now

As Christine and I actively avoid visiting our local cinema, this iTunes release will mark the first opportunity for us to experience the film in full and predictably we've already put in our pre-order. Admittedly we never did get around to watching the Senna biopic that was released a few years back, but I swear this one will be different.

The soundtrack to Rush is also available for download if that's your thing.

Update: The iTunes pre-order release date has been listed in the UK for 10 January 2014.
