Rate the race - Belgium 2014 // F1 stormed back into action this weekend, vote on its impact

Published by Christine

Spa-Francorchamps often delivers a good, if wet, race, and it's usually a strong event to bring Formula One back from its summer break hiatus. Now's your chance to vote on whether the 2014 edition of the Belgian Grand Prix, the 12th round of the season, delivered on its promise. Vote on the race itself, on a couple of specific points, and pick your driver of the day.

The rain affected qualifying a little, but actually the grid was as expected, and didn't lead us to believe the race would be spectacular. Sunday was dry at Spa, leaving the race to run unhindered, and we had action from the outset. Drivers crashing into each other, overtakes gone right and wrong, changes in the lead, a handful of penalties and some familiar faces on the podium. Now is your chance to cast a vote on how good the Spa event was - five stars for epic, one star for a disappointment.

Naturally, the Mercedes debacle grabbed a lot of attention during and after the race, and here you can vote on how the bosses at the team dealt with their particular situation. There's also a chance to vote on McLaren's young driver picking up a couple of points on his licence.

Rate Magnussen's post-race time penalty

Magnussen was involved in an incident with Fernando Alonso as the pair battled for mid-points positions towards the end of the race. The Spaniard was pushed off track during the fight, and Kevin was later handed a 20 second post-race penalty (equivalent to a drive through), with two points added to his licence. This dropped him from firmly in the points down to 12th place, with no points at all. Was it a harsh penalty (one star) or the right decision (five stars)?

Rate Mercedes' response to teammate collision

The fallout from Nico Rosberg crashing into the back of Lewis Hamilton on the second lap of the race will continue for a while yet, but we can cast a vote on the reactions of the bosses immediately after the incident and the race was over. Both Niki Lauda and Toto Wolff were barely restrained in their anger, claiming it "unacceptable." Was that the right reaction to be honest (five stars) or should they have taken time to consider their response first (one star)?

Daniel Ricciardo scored his third race victory of the year, in an event that Mercedes were destined to dominate. Is he your driver of the day? Cast your vote below, or let us know if you'd have picked someone else for their star turn.
