Lewis Hamilton took victory in what was a hard-fought battle between the two Mercedes teammates. They had a hefty gap over the rest of the field, with Daniel Ricciardo getting his first official podium of the season in third place. Sebastian Vettel had a great afternoon to recover from 15th on the grid to 4th place by the end of the race.

Further back, Jean-Éric Vergne retired with an exhaust issue, whilst Kamui Kobayashi narrowly avoided contact with the wall after his brakes gave up, and the Caterham driver was soon out of the race as well.
