The fight changed from an inter-team battle at Mercedes to one of Hamilton defending his position to the line after a flying Daniel Ricciardo attempted to get something more. Behind them, interest lay in the final points positions as Sauber desperately tried to get their first points of the year but ended up with a double DNF instead.

Marussia, though, managed to get ahead of the competition (and were helped by the sheer volume of retirements) to finish in the top ten and earn their very first points in Formula One.
