A chaotic race in Hungary saw two safety car periods, six retirements, a spatter of rain pre-race, and plenty of tyre strategy calls throughout. Daniel Ricciardo took victory after a last minute surge into first place, in what was a three-way battle for the win. Lewis Hamilton moved rapidly through the order after starting from the pit lane, beating team-mate Nico Rosberg.

Ferrari's Fernando Alonso secured second place, whilst Kimi Räikkönen also had an impressive rise through the field to finish inside the points. A bad tyre call from McLaren saw Jenson Button leading the race at one point, only to finish 10th, picking up the minimum amount of points available.
