Mercedes scooped their second 1-2 finish in a row, with a fight to the very finish between Rosberg and Hamilton. There were also battles at Williams and Force India, as well as Red Bull and Ferrari, as the team by team nature of the track meant all the drivers were fighting similar cars to their own.

Pastor Maldonado was involved in two separate incidents, upsetting Jean-Éric Vergne early on and then flipping Esteban Gutiérrez a full 360 later in the race. The action went down to the line throughout the top ten, as the hungry drivers fought their way to points and the podium.
