Lewis Hamilton won the race pretty much off the line, storming forward to snatch the lead from teammate and polesitter Nico Rosberg. Nico himself had a car that gradually got slower and slower, dropping out of the points, so there was little he could have done anyway. Williams finished both cars on the podium, with a strong result for Jenson Button as well.

Towards the rear, Will Stevens finished his debut race, as Caterham teammate Kamui Kobayashi retired. Daniil Kvyat and Pastor Maldonado also retired, with the Lotus cruising to a halt in spectacular flaming style.
