Paul di Resta was the surprise drop out in the first session, and this time it wasn't specifically as a result of his team. Sergio Pérez left his teammate behind in Q2 as the Mexican moved into the top ten shootout. Mark Webber was suffering gearbox and KERS issues throughout, leaving Lewis Hamilton, Sebastian Vettel and Romain Grosjean to fight for pole position.
