Mercedes leads final wet day of Barcelona test - Five drivers post times as pre-season F1 testing ends

Published by Christine

Nico Rosberg topped the final day of testing, giving Mercedes two fastest times in a row. However, there were only a couple of teams testing to provide competition, and adverse weather conditions kept the running to a minimum.

Five drivers set a total of 101 laps with two of them not even managing a lap time. Rosberg topped the times, half a second faster than next place Pastor Maldonado, who in turn was a couple of tenths up on Lewis Hamilton. Michael Schumacher and Fernando Alonso completed five laps each but failed to set a time.

Hispania were tucked up in the garage, not able to head out on track even if they wanted to, as the parts they were missing yesterday turned up... but got held up in customs. Ferrari packed up halfway through the day and headed home, the conditions thwarting any planned programmes.

Pre-season testing is now complete, with teams heading back to the factories to make their final preparations before the Australian Grand Prix weekend.
