New cars, new people, new laps - Testing in Jerez sees Anthony Davidson on top

Published by Christine

Anthony Davidson really showed who was boss today as he took to the Jerez circuit in style. He drove a huge number of laps and finished top of the time sheets - ahead of Giancarlo Fisichella in the Renault by almost a 10th of a second.

This is a reversal of the testing times yesterday, but Davidson wasn't exactly strolling, posting a time only a 10th of a second less than Fisichella. Seems like the Super Aguri is one to watch out for. Or Davidson is, anyway. A new British favourite, anyone?

Renault weren't having such a good day today, by all accounts, as Kovalainen caused a red flag in the morning, followed by Fisichella's red in the afternoon.

Nico Rosberg was also there, but aside from causing the third and final red flag, his day was uneventful.

Over at Valencia, Fernando Alonso took to his new car like a dream, although at one point the dream was filled with smoke and pitstops.  Huge numbers of fans descended upon the track to watch their boy mark his laps, and they got a good show. Alonso finished a tenth up on Heidfeld in the BMW-Sauber. Kubica was... well, he was also there.
