Monaco 2010 - Race information - Previewing the jewel in the Formula One calendar

Published by Mr. C

It's back-to-back racing at this point in the season and as always, Monaco throws us it's traditional Thursday running curveball. Free Practice 1 and 2 occur tomorrow, Friday is an official day of rest, before Saturday and Sunday action continues as normal.

Monaco

The weather

Although Barcelona didn't deliver on it's promised downpour, there is a small chance that both Thursday and Saturday will see some rain falling on the Principality. How much this will affect the already overcrowded city streets is anyone's guess.

The circuit

There's very little to be said about the asphalt forming F1's Blue Ribbon event that hasn't already been written a thousand times over. The track is no place for modern Formula 1 racing, but who would be without it? Overtaking is all but impossible, qualifying is even more important than usual, and with few variables for teams to play with this season, we could very well be in for a lights to flag procession.

Expect the newly raised kerbing to cause complaints and grief aplenty.
