Cast your mind back to April of this year and the Air Asia Australia über fan competition, won by internationally renowned Team Lotus supporter, Amy Fulton.

Your votes, your likes and your comments helped Amy win a trip for two to the Grand Prix in Korea and she's been snapping pictures and tweeting the experience for us thus far. Fellow Sidepodcast commenter Jeremy was roped into joining Amy for the adventure and the pair have been making the absolute most of the experience.

An über fan always has a solution

After a 28 hour journey from Australia to Korea, a washed out Friday practice session welcomed the pair, but getting inside the venue proved more troublesome than you might expect. For an event seemingly having zero spectators frequenting the grandstands, you'd think organisers might consider opening the gates once in a while.

Amy managed to manufacture something of a solution using her personal FanVision device, which thankfully worked from the... car park.

That's what you call a Pitpass

Saturday brought finer weather and a paddock pass or two, allowing our intrepid adventurers to get up close and personal with the Formula 1 fraternity.

Team Lotus provided hospitality and free wifi, before allowing our two favourite fans to join them in the garage for qualifying. What a view!

After the session, Pat briefly spotted the pair on the BBC as Karun Chandhok and Jake Humphrey interviewed Paul di Resta. Having had chance to listen in on a number of post session driver interviews around the paddock, the duo quizzed Chandhok on the subject of baseball. As you do.

The weekend is yet young

Jeremy today described the weekend as "the Formula One experience of my life!" and he hasn't seen the race yet. No doubt more adventures are in store for the pair, so be sure to follow Amy on Twitter for regular updates and check back here for more later in the week.

Huge credit goes to Team Lotus and to Air Asia for going above and beyond and bringing Formula 1 fans closer to the action. Here's hoping they run more of the same next season.
