Lewis Hamilton's first F1 drive - New British driver joins McLaren with Alonso

Published by Christine

In the least surprising news so far this year, Lewis Hamilton has been announced as the second driver at McLaren. He will partner Fernando Alonso, after succeeding in GP2 and securing constant McLaren support.

Hamilton is obviously ecstatic about the deal, saying it's a dream come true and other such quotes that you would expect. Ron Dennis, boss at McLaren, has been involved in Hamilton's career since the boy was, well, a boy.

This is brilliant news for British fans who can add Hamilton to their driver list of Coulthard, Button and Davidson. It's going to be interesting to see how a newcomer will be able to prove himself when partnered with the defending double world champion. Either people will be expecting too much from him, or they will not be expecting enough from him. Either way, it's good to see youngsters getting a chance.
