Just nine times on the board, as Rosberg leads day three - Testing in Jerez continues with Mercedes fastest

Published by Christine

It was a day of mixed fortunes at Jerez, with Nico Rosberg able to top the timesheets in last year's Mercedes, and Romain Grosjean putting in the best time of the 2012 contenders. On the flip side, Jules Bianchi bashed his Force India into the barriers, causing only a little damage but enough to halt the team's running for the day. He'd only completed two installation laps and so Force India did not set a time for day three.

Another driver struggling was Giedo van der Garde, who caused a red flag when he beached his Caterham in the gravel. However, the car was recovered and he was able to go on and complete 74 laps through the day.

We've seen Ferrari taking to their paintwork with a lot of flow vis, and it's emerged that they aren't happy about the situation their car is in at the moment. That is something of a change from the launch day, when all they were talking about was the start of the season - where they would come out fighting and winning. Now, things are different, as Technical Director Pat Fry explains:

I think there is a lot of room for us to improve from where we are. Reliability wise it is good. Performance wise I think we are okay, but we can play around with the performance and improve some corners and some particular parts of the corner, but I would not say I am happy yet until we get the whole thing working.

McLaren had biscuits at the Hamilton media meet n' greet. Most shocking? Lewis took one! Chose a garibaldi over a choccy digestive. #bignews
