Japan 2012 - Starting grid - Penalties aplenty, as Schumacher hits the back, and Button loses third

Published by Christine

Michael Schumacher was facing a ten place grid drop before he even arrived in Japan, after crashing into the back of Jean-Éric Vergne at the last race. Vergne himself has also gained a three place penalty after impeding Bruno Senna in qualifying. Jenson Button secured third place on Saturday but has to take a five place drop after a gearbox change, as does Nico Hülkenberg.
