Goodwood Festival of Speed // A weekend in the British countryside with motorsport

Published by Mr. C

It's June already, and that can mean only one thing. It's almost time for this years Festival of Speed.

In three short weeks, the great and the good in the world of motor racing will descend on a country house in Sussex in order to bear witness to the greatest collection of racing cars on the planet.

And that's not an exaggeration either. Nowhere else in this world can fans of four-wheeled-speed get up close and personal to some of the finest mechanical accomplishments man has created. And it's not all 'look but don't touch' either. These machines will be living, breathing and even racing each other to the top of Goodwood Hill.

I can't describe how wonderful this event is in the space of one post. So it's lucky that Christine has been hard at work getting our new Events section up and running. Here we'll be bringing you the best coverage of motorsport events anywhere on the net. We already have a number of things up there - including photos, blog posts, audio podcasts and videos from the likes of Autosport International, Silverstone and Goodwood. You couldn't ask for more, right?

Which is why I urge you to read about the things we got up to at Goodwood Park last year (before our little podcast actually existed), to see what you'll be missing out on if you don't attend FOS 2007.

More information on tickets and attendees can be found on the festival's official site. Prices start from £25.00 per day and this year you'll be subjected to the likes of Lewis Hamilton and Ralf Schumacher (assuming he still has a ride in 3 weeks time) as well as seeing the best of this years F1 cars up close and personal.

Back in '06 we came perilously close to being run over by Nigel Mansell while trying to take a photo of Jenson Button. That's not going to happen anywhere else is it? Book 'em now.
