Lewis Hamilton suffered at the hands of the final corner, when he ran straight off track and crashed into the barriers - giving his mechanics quite a bit of work to do before qualifying. That allowed Rosberg to nip into P1, but Lewis wasn't far behind. Alonso was third, with the two Williams drivers behind.
Esteban Gutiérrez and both the Lotus drivers had their own share of off track moments, but managed to steer clear of the barriers to rejoin the action.
