The Lotus team had a lot of work on their hands fixing up Kimi Räikkönen's car after his earlier crash, and once they had patched up the machinery, the Finn was complaining about the steering. Vettel set the early pace, but Lewis Hamilton was right there with him, and Webber also appeared at the top as the times started to drop. Vettel was one of the last to bolt on the supersoft tyres, but could only manage second, as Hamilton retained his lead from FP1.
