The top three fastest drivers in the afternoon were exactly the same as in the morning, the only major difference being they were three seconds quicker than the laps completed in FP1. Hamilton and Rosberg led the way, with Alonso tucked behind in third.

There were a handful of breakdowns, with Max Chilton slowing to a stop with brake failure, Adrian Sutil also coming to a halt, and finally Marcus Ericsson stopping with about five minutes left on the clock. There was also a near miss, when Sergio Pérez had to take avoiding action against Nico Rosberg - and the stewards opted to look into the incident after the session.
