Nico Rosberg set the early benchmark for second practice, whilst teammate Lewis Hamilton managed to pick himself up after his disappointing first session. Once the soft tyres went on, Rosberg lowered his top time, but was beaten by Lewis who remained fastest overall.

There was some side by side racing action as Esteban Gutiérrez got in the way of Sebastian Vettel, and the defending champion was determined to get past. The Sauber driver was squeezed off track as the pair fought for track space... in practice!

Lotus struggled with both their drivers, but Romain Grosjean did manage to complete twelve laps before ending up in the gravel. The Frenchman hit the wall before spinning off track, thankfully with just a few minutes left of the session.
