Friday practice drivers were in full force today, as Max Verstappen got behind the wheel of the Toro Rosso. He took an unusual route off track after locking up, heading through the safety car run off, but found his way back to the racing line eventually. Felipe Nasr was in the Williams, with no major incident but the same could not be said for Daniel Juncadella. Driving Sergio Pérez's Force India, he crashed into the barriers bringing out the red flags.

Elsewhere, Jenson Button only managed to get to the end of the pit lane before his McLaren shut down and could not get going again. Several drivers, including Kimi Räikkönen, had trouble keeping their cars on track, running wide and missing corners.
