Lewis Hamilton took the first top honours in this final weekend battle with his teammate, but as always it was super close at the top. It wasn't quite so close at the end, with Will Stevens making his F1 debut and finishing more than seven seconds off the pace. He didn't get a lot of running, however, as a fire extinguisher incident meant the car had to be cleaned hurriedly.

Stevens wasn't the only new boy on track, with Esteban Ocon and Adderly Fong also getting a Friday practice opportunity. The old guard were struggling, too, with Button and Bottas only managing eight laps and Massa completing seven. The two Williams drivers found their cars shedding bodywork at various points around the track.
