Formula One drivers wish Kubica a speedy recovery - The F1 paddock gets together to send their best wishes

Published by Christine

The stars of Formula One have appeared in a video to cheer up Robert Kubica, let him know he is missed and wish him a quick recovery. Published on the official F1 website today, the video runs for about ten minutes, and captures the thoughts of 22 drivers, plus Renault boss Éric Boullier. Fernando Alonso and Heikki Kovalainen have plenty to say to their recuperating friend, but there are also one-liners from other drivers, including Pastor Maldonado and Adrian Sutil.

Robert's teammate Vitaly Petrov has gathered the strength of an entire country to send to his friend:

Just wanted to let you know my family, my friends and all Russian fans support you. They wish you all the best. If you need some help or anything, just let me know, call me or send a message, I hope you know my number. We’ll take the first flight and come and visit you. We miss you, we’re waiting for you here.

- Vitaly Petrov

Meanwhile, Nick Heidfeld does the best he can in what is an awkward situation:

I hope you are getting better each day. I guess it’s a bit awkward for you as well to see me in your Lotus Renault car and in your gear. I’m actually too sure if you’re too happy to see me but maybe it motivates you to come back soon and I hope you get well soon.

- Nick Heidfeld

I particularly enjoy the bit where Buemi refers to him as Bertino. I may be mishearing that, but it's something I'm going to contemplate calling him in the future. Hamilton and Button did their piece to camera together, joking that the coming season will be easy without a Robert-shaped Renault to try and overtake.

Lewis: We were just discussing now that it makes it a bit easier this year because we won’t have to worry about trying to overtake you as you make your car as wide as possible.

Jenson: I think it’s called weaving, actually.

- Lewis Hamilton & Jenson Button

If you haven't seen the video, it is worth at least one watch, if not repeated viewings. You can also view the full(ish) transcript here. Meanwhile, I am off to figure out who's getting Christine's Rankings points next week and how many.
