It was Lewis Hamilton on top again as the fastest laps of the race saw the Mercedes driver a tenth faster than Jenson Button. The McLaren car showed surprising pace although Button is well known for coping well with mixed conditions. The two Red Bull drivers were next in line, with Nico Rosberg way down in sixth place.

Towards the back, Marcus Ericsson did well to post lap times faster than both Lotus and Sauber drivers, as well as his Caterham teammate Kamui Kobayashi.
