On the eve of the first F1 weekend of 2011, the Sauber F1 Team opened their official Twitter account meaning that all twelve Formula 1 teams now have a presence on the micro blogging social platform. In addition, Sauber also launched their first Facebook page.

In theory, Sauber should also be the final F1 team to grace Facebook, but as far as we're aware, the Williams team are still not officially represented. There are a couple of pages claiming to be administered by the team, but we'll try and get confirmation after this weekend's race.

Update: Williams F1 finally signed up, so have been added to the list.

It's worth mentioning that along with Sauber being a relative newcomer, Marussia Virgin and Lotus Renault recently moved pages due to sponsorship changes. Due to Facebook limitations, they couldn't bring existing fans with them, so you may need to become a fan again if you got left behind.

Of course you can find more than just the teams on Facebook. Drivers, circuits, journalists, photographers and more are all well represented. In 2011 Sidepodcast will be looking deeper into the best the social utility has to offer, in the meantime don't forget to 'like' the official Sidepodcast page too.
