F1's Rubens Barrichello reaches one million Twitter followers - The influential tweeter gathers more friends and fans

Published by Mr. C

Back in 2010, it was revealed that Rubens Barrichello was the 63rd most influential person on Twitter and as of today he becomes the first F1 driver with more than 1,000,000 users following him.

Barrichello's Twitter followers

Having posted in excess of 10,000 tweets on the popular social networking since June 2009, Rubens is leading the sports social media charge, as it scrambles to keep up with fans demand for ever more access. McLaren driver, and Barrichello's ex. team mate, Jenson Button is currently the second most popular driver on the site, coming in a distant second with just 435,848 followers.

Barrichello may drive for the Williams team, but it's Ferrari that are way out in front of the teams standings with 117,067 followers. Williams meanwhile find themselves further back with a mere 31,487 to their name and might consider picking up a few tips from their team leader.

Here's how the F1 top five most social drivers line up on the grid.
