The final race of the European leg of 2013 approaches, with Monza playing host to the action for the twelfth round of the season and where Ferrari and Pirelli celebrate their home race. The weather looks as though it could hold a twist or two in store, but we know by now that we should never take rain for granted.
With four long straights peppered with a handful of chicanes to break up the action, Monza provides a real challenge for drivers, teams and engines. We're starting to see reliability issues creep into the machinery as the long season continues to wind its path towards a conclusion.
The championships are still both firmly in Red Bull's hands, but there are challenges still from the nearby racers - in particular, Ferrari and Fernando Alonso will want to impress in front of the home crowd, but the Mercedes duo will not want another pole position to slip through their fingers.
