Coming up this week, we discuss testing tyres, TV statistics, upcoming launches and drivers with beards.

Intro

Once again, we are having to confirm that we do talk about F1 as well as the many other sports that are cropping up, most notably football.

Good week/Bad week

A good week for Fauzy who has signed up for another Lotus team, and for Ferrari as they look likely to continue the partnership with Marlboro. A bad week for HRT who might find themselves with an Earth Car, and for Lucas di Grassi who is struggling to find himself any car.

News and views

We discuss the recent Pirelli tyre test, and why it took place in Abu Dhabi, at night, in the wet. Pedro de la Rosa wasn't 100% impressed with the visibility but Pirelli got what they were after.

Meanwhile, Williams are busy contemplating their future and we discuss how a stock market flotation is probably a good thing to save the team from the hands of Patrick Head. Maybe.

In less exciting news, Bernie has some rubbish statistics about the growth of the TV audience, and a quote that doesn't seem likely to have come from him. We also talk beards, and introduce the Quote/Unquote feature.

Feedback

Several bits of feedback this week:

  • Em picks us up on our ability to promote our own wares. We've always been rubbish at that, so a quick recap of the sites we attempted to plug last week.
  • EyeTeaGuy makes his debut in the Sidepodcast comments.
  • Christopher enquires about watching the BBC coverage outside of the UK, and we discuss the concept of proxies.
  • DoofusDanF1Fan catches the enthusiasm bug.
  • Finally, two quick snippets of feedback from Twitter - @talkingaboutf1 and @maddie28.

Housekeeping

For 2011, the Sidepodcast calendar is bigger and better than ever. We give Lukeh's Chitra Chandhok post a big shoutout, and once again talk about the football.
