Driver standings - United States 2014 - Hamilton extends his lead as Maldonado gets a point

Although Lewis Hamilton won the race and managed to extend his lead in the championship over Nico Rosberg, the real news was that Pastor Maldonado finally managed to get some points on the board. The Lotus driver finished inside the top ten for the first time this season, despite getting a handful of five second penalties.
At the top, the maths finally worked against Daniel Ricciardo, leaving just the two Mercedes drivers as the only two in the championship fight. With 24 points between the two, it will definitely go down to the wire, with the Abu Dhabi track set to host the championship decider.
