Red Bull finally broke McLaren's domination with Mark Webber posting the fastest time of Saturday, edging out Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel. Fernando Alonso had better pace, whilst Vitaly Petrov caused a red flag by crashing into the barriers.
