Britain 2012 - Race results - The sun shone over Silverstone today, allowing Mark Webber to secure victory

Published by Christine

The lead changed hands several times, but only once when it really counted. Fernando Alonso looked set for a strong win for the British Grand Prix, but his tyres weren't capable of going the distance and it was Mark Webber who found himself in a position to capitalise. Elsewhere, Vitaly Petrov didn't even make the start of the race as the Caterham stopped out on track on the formation lap. Paul di Resta also retired after a puncture, and Sergio Pérez was knocked out after an incident with Pastor Maldonado.
