Britain 2012 - Qualifying results - A session of two halves, with a lengthy red flag, finally sees pole position decided

Published by Christine

Fernando Alonso and Mark Webber battled for pole position, squirming their way towards the chequered flag as their tyres did battle with the wet circuit. It was the Ferrari who crossed the line for the fastest time, leaving the Red Bull to take second place. Further back, Romain Grosjean crashed ahead of Q3, leaving him unable to participate despite getting through to the final session. Jenson Button also struggled massively, again, and found himself dumped out in Q1. The grid will face some changes ahead of tomorrow's race due to penalties, but it's Alonso who takes pole position.
