Bahrain 2012 - Qualifying results // Vettel takes pole position for the Bahrain Grand Prix

Published by Christine

Michael Schumacher was the surprise drop-out of the first session of qualifying. He had DRS issues on the car and settled for a tenth place laptime, before the pace quickened and he fell rapidly down the order. Heikki Kovalainen got through to Q2, where Pastor Maldonado opted not to set a time due to his gearbox related five place grid drop. It was a close fight to pole position in the final session, with Lewis Hamilton setting the benchmark. Mark Webber posted the P1 time for a fraction of a second, before Sebastian Vettel crossed the line and snatched it from him.
