Published by Christine

Mercedes completed a more productive day, whereas the mechanical gremlins moved on to Lotus. Kovalainen completed just 15 laps before his running was curtailed by a power steering issue. Technical chief Mike Gascoyne explained:

Testing finished for today due to power steering problem. Need to get it back to the uk and fixed and rebuilt overnight ready for morning

There were a total of four red flags throughout the day, doubling the number spotted in yesterday's opening round of testing. The culprits this time included Barrichello, Rosberg and Buemi, who all stopped with car trouble, and Paul di Resta who suffered a quick spin.

Tomorrow is the final day of testing in Valencia before the action moves on to Jerez next week.
