Lewis Hamilton secured pole position in Abu Dhabi with a strong first lap in the final session that could not be beaten. The Red Bull drivers did their best, but Vettel was struggling and found himself dropping back to third behind teammate Webber. Meanwhile, championship contender Fernando Alonso fell back to seventh.
