It was close at the top, as Daniel Ricciardo conceded his lead midway through the session to Sam Bird - the pair of them seperated by mere thousandths of a second. However, as the track got even faster towards the end of the day, Ricciardo put in an even faster time, dropping into the 1:38s - as Edd Straw pointed out, that's one second faster than Vettel's pole position! There were several red flags throughout the day, but no major incidents.
