Welcome to F1Minute - Williams and Marussia wrap up Silverstone test.
It was no surprise to find Valtteri Bottas on top for Williams for the second day in a row, as the Young Driver Test at Silverstone drew to a close. The Finnish driver was just one second faster than the two Marussia drivers - the only other participants on the day, as HRT did not attend the Friday session.
Bottas has put the miles in, clocking up almost 300 laps over the two days. He’s also managed to impress the bosses, with Dominic Harlow - Senior Operations Engineer at Williams - saying afterwards: “We were able to get a good evaluation of several new components across various systems on the car as part of the ongoing development, alongside giving Valtteri more mileage in the car. Valtteri again drove well, whilst the weather held up, enabling us to achieve another productive day for the team.”
Meanwhile, the Marussia duo of Max Chilton and Rio Haryanto shared track time for the second day in a row, with John Booth praising his young drivers for their conduct. They also both completed over 350km, which is enough to gain them a superlicence each for their trouble.
