This is F1Minute - Williams bolster their technical department with two new faces.
Williams F1 have confirmed they have signed two new technical staff in their reshuffle of the department. It was the beginning of May when Sam Michael and Jon Tomlinson confirmed they would be leaving the team, and now we know who will be coming in. Jason Somerville will be head of aerodynamics. He is currently at Renault, and has previously worked for Toyota. Before that he was actually with the Williams team, so has some experiencing working for Frank, and will be back in mid-August.
Joining him, Mark Gillan who will be the Chief Operations Engineer. Mark previously worked for Jaguar, who became Red Bull, and has also had experience with the Toyota F1 Team.
Boss Frank Williams said of his new signings: “Williams F1 is looking forward to welcoming Jason and Mark to the team. They bring with them talent, experience and good team skills. We now feel that, together with Mike Coughlan, Jason and Mark can form the right technical leadership to take the team forward as we work our way back to the front of the grid.”
