It’s been a rough start to the year for Team Williams but they are beginning to deal with the loss of their main driver for 2017 now. Here’s Deputy Team Principal Claire Williams paying tribute to Valtteri Bottas: “He’s been an integral part of the development of this team over the past three years. He’s taken us to many podiums, he’s secured many points for the constructor’s championship for us. He’s also a great person.”

In turn, Bottas said: “It’s been an amazing learning curve for me and also for the team… I always thought Williams has won so many championships that there’s no reason why it couldn’t win again. I think it’s only for this team a matter of time.”

And in their bid to do this, there’s talk of Rob Smedley’s role expanding to look at both the short, medium and long term development. He’s reported as saying: “It’s important that we start to concentrate a bit harder on that, in order that we’re making steps into higher performance fields and not always trying to work at the same level. That’ll be a key part of what I’m doing.”
