This is F1Minute - Webber extends Red Bull contract to 2013.
Just two days after securing victory at the British Grand Prix, Mark Webber has been confirmed at Red Bull for the 2013 season, extending his current contract by one more year. The Australian had been coy about contract discussions when asked over the weekend, but now it is out in the open, he’s sure it’s the right decision.
Webber says: “I’m high on confidence at the moment and firing on all cylinders. I know the team well and I’m very comfortable here. We have grown together over the years and it feels like absolutely the right thing to stay with Red Bull for another season. The team is constantly working hard to improve in all areas and we’ve shown that together we can win races.”
The news puts pay to any speculation that Mark could be on the move to Ferrari, taking up a seat alongside Fernando Alonso - but Webber admits it wasn’t all hot air, adding: “There were discussions with Ferrari, but my decision was to stay here... It’s important the team know you’re 100% with them, which, of course, I am.”
