Hello, this is F1Minute for the 7th February 2011.
Virgin Racing have launched their new car for the 2011 season - with Timo Glock and Jérôme D’Ambrosio on hand to unveil the MVR-02 in London today. The M stands for Marussia, and the livery has changed slightly to reflect the new sponsorship. The car shies away from the 2011 trend of a high nose, but the team joins the rest of the field in concentrating their aerodynamic focus on the rear of the car. This is Virgin’s second attempt at a car designed solely by computational fluid dynamics, and the team are hoping they have made a step up from last year, where they finished last in the championship.
Lead driver Timo Glock knows exactly what he wants to do before the racing gets underway, saying: “At the first test I just want to hit the track and drive, drive, drive. We need to see where the bad points are on the car... If you come to the first race with a list of problems, you are in trouble and you start on the back foot. That’s what we shouldn’t do.”
