It is the 3rd January 2011 and this is F1Minute.
Now that the new year is here, teams and drivers are beginning to look ahead to the upcoming season. We’ve seen plenty of drivers having seat fittings over the winter, and whilst we were on a break Vitaly Petrov was confirmed for another year at Renault, whilst Jérôme D’Ambrosio gained a seat at Virgin Racing - replacing the outgoing Lucas di Grassi.
Current Champion Sebastian Vettel has been speaking about his hopes for 2011, and particularly points out that the team need to do better at the beginning of the year to try and help them out when the season gets nearer it’s conclusion. He said: “It is going to be tough next season, the cars will change, and there will be an opportunity for others to catch up. There is a chance for us to do great again, but we will have to wait and see.” It’s also reported that Red Bull will be present at the first test this year, unlike 2010 when they skipped some track time to work on development.
